In September of 2022, Apple released its latest iPhone: the standard 14, the 14 Pro, and the 14 Pro Max.
In this article, I will be describing the new features of the iPhone 14 Pro and sharing my thoughts if it's worth switching from the 13 Pro to the 14 Pro.
Dynamic Island
I really don’t understand the point of this design: most competitors have the front screen as a full screen. But, it looks like Apple still lives in the past.
The UI/UX design for Dynamic Island is nice and may be useful for some people, but still, I feel like the design is living in the past. PLUS with the Dynamic Island, that feature will keep your finger prints on the front camera... so you better wipe it down before taking your next selfie!
New Phone Colors
Out of all the colors, I like the deep purple the most- then gold, silver, and space black. Overall, the color theme is not bad but I think more unique colors could be brought to the market. With new colors, they would most likely start a trend where competitors will follow.

Always On Display
This is great feature- AND for Android users, they have been using it for many years! But leave it to Apple to bring Always On Display to market and make it feel like it's a brand new feature, never done before. Lately, it looks like Apple users have a very negative opinion about Always On Display. YouTubers share that this feature withdraws the battery life deeply.
Another valid, and simple, point is: do I really need the Always On Display? With an update like this, they are going to have to make a change with the battery or give an option for users to decide which information gets lit up on the screen and select what is displayed with Always On Display.

Display 2x Brightness
The brightness of the display can reach up to 2000 nits outdoors. But, user experience shows that it easily goes down to 700 nits after few minutes in some cases.
I’m not sure why they created this feature if it's not going to work out in the long run. The issue may have to do with cooling the phone down while using the 2000 nits outdoors. If that is the problem, why not have an engineer work on the solution so it could last long term. If you go outside on a bright day in California (like most days in CA), this feature will help you view the screen clearly but get ready for nits to go down.

Crash Detection
This feature is great design engineering. I have seen people testing this out in Youtube videos and it actually works. I think this design should be in other phones as well. This will help with hit and runs, and if you are alone during an accident.
How does the Crash Detection know you've been in a crash? By using information gathered from sudden speed shifts, changes in cabin pressure, abrupt changes in direction, loud sounds, and levels of impact. They tested the Crash Detection feature by having laboratory crash tests that included motion algorithms and real world crash data.
Emergency SOS via satellite
This feature is another excellent engineering design. This is great for people who love to adventure around the world. Families and friends can now have peace of mind when you or someone they love go off grid.
Apple came up with a feature to point where the next satellite is and accelerate the help you need. This feature also connects with Find My location using satellite to share your location to friends and family. BUT I want to point out that this feature does come with a cost.

This is the biggest camera ever to be in the iPhone, finally catching up to other brands. iPhone cameras have always been good. Even if you have an older iPhone with a lower-end camera, it does much better or almost as good as other high end cameras.
With 48MP main camera, with advance quad pixel sensor, and up to 4x resolution- you can get mind blowing results. This comes with 65% larger sensor comparing to 13 Pro. Camera quality will make a big difference in this iPhone 14 Pro
A16 Bionic Chip
They call it the mastermind! What's the biggest difference from A15? With 16 billion transistors, 6 core CPU, 17 trillion operations per second, 5 core GPU with 50% more bandwidth... is it the same as the A15? It's not a big difference! Why not put a M1 chip to the iPhone? THAT would be better.
Battery Life - 23 Hours
The Battery Life on the iPhone 13 Pro has always been nice. I've been using it for one year now. The iPhone 14 Pro and Max has a new feature that can hold 23 to 29 hours of battery life. This all depends how you choose to use, interact, or play with your phone.
No more SIM tray
With this option, you have pros and cons. For example, one pro is: You can use multiple phone numbers with different data plans. The con is: if you are a traveler from another country, you can't add a SIM from another country without this feature... will this make the iPhone useless? If other companies do not support this feature, the iPhone will be worthless- unless, it is the future...
Conclusion
My opinion: if you have the iPhone 13 Pro, just keep it for now.
